Agriculture has adopted intensive production practices, with innovations predominantly focused on increasing yields and productivity. Over the long term, most of these interventions have proved environmentally damaging and ultimately unsustainable. Turning to chemicals, we began replacing lush forests with endless fields of farmland, depleting natural resources and disrupting the fragile balance of our ecosystems.
